Fladdrig stol

The FLADDRA lounge chair is a study in textile encounters with wood. I wanted to find a way to convey the qualities of the fabric, the fluttery, the tightened, the soft and full. The hard wood that meets the soft pillows.

The inspiration comes from Swedish early summer, the wind and blueberries with milk. But also a study in the world of textile art, how textile artists work with fabric in comparison to how the furniture industry works with fabric, where the furniture industry often tightens and forces the fabric down, while textile artists work with gravity and space to show the material. I was fascinated by the different approaches and wanted to challenge myself to let a material be wrinkled and folded as it pleases.

Made by me in Swedish pine, upholstered in cotton and linen. 2021
